Welcome to Wicklow Dementia Support
To support people in County Wicklow with dementia and their family carers
- To support people with dementia and their family carers in County Wicklow
- To assist them in maintaining a quality of life
- To enable them to remain at home
- To continue that support into long term care as appropriate
The overall driving force is to retain as much independence as possible for those with dementia and for them to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. To help achieve these ends, a variety of services has been established by Wicklow Dementia Support (WDS).
These services comprise AlzPals, AlzClubs, Carers Support Groups, and AlzInfo. Our vision in the future is also to secure a location for “The Hub”, a place where people with dementia and their carers can drop in and visit for support, advice and information.
It is envisaged that these services will expand and develop over a period of time, but will remain locally run and driven to address the needs of those with dementia in Co Wicklow. The organisation is managed by a voluntary Board, which appoints facilitators, as appropriate, to the various services.
Volunteers are recruited and trained to carry out the work of the organisation, which will continue to grow as the benefits become known and accepted.
